STCW SECURITY AWARENESS TRAINING

STCW Security Awareness Training is a mandatory course for all seafarers working on ships that are required to comply with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. The course aims to enhance maritime security by providing seafarers with the knowledge and skills to recognize security threats and respond appropriately.
 

This training course covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to maritime security: Overview of the ISPS Code and its requirements, the role of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the importance of maritime security.
  • Security threats and risks: Identification of potential security threats, such as terrorism, piracy, and smuggling, as well as the risks associated with these threats.
  • Security measures and procedures: Understanding the ship security plan (SSP) and its implementation, including security drills, access control, and surveillance systems.
  • Reporting procedures: Knowing how to report suspicious activities and security incidents to the appropriate authorities.
  • Personal security: Protecting oneself from security threats, such as kidnapping and assault.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  •  Understand the importance of maritime security and the role of the ISPS Code.
  • Identify potential security threats and risks.
  • Implement security measures and procedures in accordance with the SSP.
  • Report suspicious activities and security incidents.
  • Protect themselves from security threats.
