ELECTRO TECHNICAL OFFICER (ETO) TRAINING

The Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) training course is designed to equip graduates in electrical, electronics, or related engineering fields with the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to operate, maintain, and repair the complex electrical and electronic systems found on modern seagoing vessels. The course adheres to the standards set by the STCW Convention and Code, specifically Section A-III/6.

  • Monitor the Operation of Electrical, Electronic, and Control Systems: Understand the principles of operation and monitor the performance of various onboard electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Monitor the Operation of Automatic Control Systems: Comprehend and oversee the automated control systems for propulsion and auxiliary machinery.
  • Operate Generators and Distribution Systems: Manage the ship's power generation and distribution networks, including high-voltage systems.
  • Operate and Maintain Power Systems in Excess of 1000 Volts: Safely operate and maintain high-voltage electrical installations.
  • Operate Computers and Computer Networks on Ships: Understand and manage the ship's computer systems and networks.
  • Maintain and Repair Electrical and Electronic Equipment: Diagnose faults, perform maintenance, and carry out repairs on a wide array of electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Maintain and Repair Automation and Control Systems: Service and repair the automated control systems for various shipboard machinery.
  • Maintain and Repair Bridge Navigation Equipment and Ship Communication Systems: Ensure the functionality of vital navigational and communication electronics.
  • Maintain and Repair Electrical, Electronic, and Control Systems of Deck Machinery and Cargo-Handling Equipment: Oversee the electrical aspects of deck machinery and cargo operations.
  • Ensure Compliance with Pollution-Prevention Requirements: Understand and adhere to regulations aimed at preventing marine pollution.
  • Apply Leadership and Teamworking Skills: Effectively collaborate with other crew members and demonstrate leadership when required.
  • Use English in Written and Oral Form: Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, for operational and safety purposes.
  • Apply Medical First Aid on Board Ship: Provide initial medical assistance in case of onboard emergencies.
  • Contribute to the Safety of Personnel and Ship: Understand and implement safety procedures to protect the crew and the vessel.
