An introductory programme providing familiarization with oil tanker cargo systems, safe cargo handling procedures, and pollution prevention. Participants practise basic loading, discharging, and abnormal-condition responses through guided simulator exercises. The course does not qualify participants to conduct cargo operations independently.
Upon completion, participants should be able to:
* Identify principal oil tanker cargo equipment and associated hazards.
* Explain basic loading, discharging, and ballast coordination procedures.
* Follow a provided cargo plan and checklist during guided simulator exercises.
* Recognize abnormal conditions and demonstrate initial responses within a simulated scenario.
* Describe essential ship–shore communication and pollution prevention measures.
