24 HoursThis course introduces shipboard security management principles and the responsibilities of the Ship Security Officer. Participants explore security assessments, ship security plans, preventive measures, reporting, and emergency preparedness through guided discussions and practical tabletop exercises.
Upon completion, participants should be able to:
* Explain the maritime security framework and the respective roles of the SSO, CSO, and PFSO.
* Identify common shipboard security threats and vulnerabilities.
* Describe how a Ship Security Plan supports security measures at different security levels.
* Explain basic inspection, reporting, and security equipment procedures.
* Participate in security scenarios, drills, and improvement discussions.
