MARINE HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEMS SAFETY AND AWARENESS COURSE
Course Description
This course provides participants with fundamental knowledge of marine high-voltage systems above 1,000 volts, including system configurations, electrical hazards, protection devices, safe working practices, isolation awareness, and initial emergency response. The course is intended for safety awareness and familiarization purposes and does not authorize participants to perform high-voltage switching, testing, maintenance, or repair.
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, participants should be able to:
Identify the basic configuration and major components of marine high-voltage systems.
Recognize electrical shock, arc-flash, arc-blast, fire, and stored-energy hazards.
Explain the principles of PPE, Permit to Work, risk assessment, LOTO, isolation, and electrical protection.
Describe appropriate initial actions during HV faults and emergencies while recognizing the limits of their authority.
